Product Smackdown was the spring flavor of Rocky Mountain ProductCamp. This was a highly interactive opportunity for product managers / marketers / innovators to exchange ideas and best practices.
It was held at Casselman’s Bar and Venue in downtown Denver thanks to our sponsors – Product Innovations Educators, Value Innovations, and ReadyTalk. The after work atmosphere provided the perfect environment to work on a real life product problem and address its marketing message in a shortened time frame. The easy access to good libations provided just the social lubrication to talk “smack” about the other teams outcomes.
30 people joined us for the inaugural event and made up 5 highly competitive teams. Using Value Innovations Aplicare product scenario the teams were given a brief overview of the problem, a description of the value chain, and the contextual interview results. Using this information the teams task was to develop a new product prototype, product name, and the product messaging – all in 45 minutes!
The outcomes were very creative from all the teams and judging was difficult. The short clip below provides a little flavor of the evening and the results of what the teams produced in that short time span.
All-in-all, the feedback was great. It was just the type of challenging, yet collegial environment the participants were looking for.
Mark your calendars for the next Rocky Mountain ProductCamp event on October 29th. This will be the full day event. More details to come in the coming months.
